...you not been watched, you are been recorded in a folder with your name in this way: year, month, day then your birthday, last name, first name and pseudo name.  then comes seconds just in case.  If your name is John Ray this is of you: 20181014199806RayJohnShook55@USAAlkansas4838396 this is the computer code inside your computer plus your ISP and your computer name.  Everything here is just an entire number that takes less than a millionth of a second to bring out the folder which contains the rest of the data pertaining to you, in that folder there are whatever you wrote in the internet, all your videos, pics, phone numbers and all that nuts of things a human does.  Important to tell: even that data is there, no one knows it is there.  It would be known if you do something against the nation which you live in, then the folder is open and some of the data would be used against you ...then you question when seen a judge in court, thinking: how on earth they got that?  But if you are questioned by any authority, they figure out in putting in a simple way the question they want you to answer, let's say: ...had you ever been next, or with, or in a party at which people in the party does sell piracy movies?  Suppose 10 years ago that happened, you might answer: yes; then the question goes deeper: when? you answer: don't remember.  They ask you, let's say some 7 or 10 years ago.  Then you remember of guess: think it was some 8 years ago (what you don't know is that the authorities have a Virtual Folder of yours with that proof that they could not reveal to you, neither they have that folder with them, they have the prearranged questioning included in their own questions but were introduced by someone else, the USA spy net (I am not mentioning any authority by name).  Rest azure your privacy is protected, but if the reason why you were arrested was that you broke in some others computer, let's say, the Fed or NASA or FBI or who knows, they will never let you go.  You would stay in one way or the other, if not as charged with some other felonies or crimes for you to rotten in jail.  Got the point?  And they have the legal right to do so base on state security 'cause you are a danger for the existence of USA, or England or the bilateral exchange of energy for money from, let's say: Saudi Arabia and the energy department of US.  But in your case, specifically, they are not going to bother who the HECK YOU ARE.  It cost a lot of time and money to intrude inside your personal life, rest in peace and continue garbaging (looking for garbage of info or data to please your curiosity) around the internet.  Remember, in a country like Russia or China, it is all the way around.
