Humans will never be born with a DNA been a software or a firmware, this is, an algorithm.  It has to be fabricated as a car or a chair is fabricated, not born, this is the survival of the fittest.
Though a lot of said here makes a lot of sense, some of that lot is fully wrong.  Here, life is seen from the mathematical point of view, not from the biological point of view, and that view is life. Deoxyribonucleic Acid is not an algorithm, nor the environment is an algorithm. Yet DNA could be seen from the point of view of Quantum Mechanics, it is not Quantum Mechanics ...by this I mean: to be gay is not algorithm, to be gay is a state of conformity, a state of physical adaptation and "been accustomed to a habit" formed through time and environment, it is a state of being due to the surrounding, due to social behavior and due to a  freedom of state, and freedom of choice of the individual. Been gay is breaking a social taboo. Been gay is not a biological need of survival of the fittest, but of pleasure, this is a biological pleasure originated by the libido.
