The “unsinkable” ship went down in just two hours and 40 minutes
after hitting an iceberg.

-I read her writing on the Titanic …and it
broke my heart.
…so, for you to know directly from her writings:
TheHeartbreaking Tragedy of the Titanic (moneywise.com)
...reading her short story on the Titanic,
readers would see how a loved one is accompanied to death by his/her loved partner,
even in death not abandoning the other.
How rich and famous people give their lives to save others, unknown to
them. How a group of Orchestra people
don’t abandon their spectators and run to save their lives. Compare that time with today’s new class of
people, and tell me, weren’t they real virtuous people?
"While chocolate magnate Milton Snavely
Hershey and Wall Street legend J.P. Morgan were expected to embark on the
voyage, both backed out — Hershey, due to other commitments, and Morgan, who
had his own personal suite designed for him on the ship, because he wanted to
remain at the French resort of Aix.
Macy’s
elderly co-owner Isidor Straus and his wife both perished in the sinking.
Isidor refused any special consideration to take a seat on a lifeboat and Ida
would not leave his side, so the pair died together in their cabin.
John
Jacob Astor IV, who was the wealthiest passenger on the ship, also did not
survive the sinking, although his pregnant wife Madeleine made it out on a
lifeboat."
